AI Tech Pack Sample Review Workflow: Comparing Samples Against AI-Generated Specs
How to review garment samples against your AI tech pack specifications — measurement checking, construction verification, and documenting revision requests.
Why structured sample review matters
Receiving a garment sample is exciting, but evaluating it properly requires a systematic approach. Your AI tech pack is the benchmark — every specification in the tech pack should be verified against the physical sample. Random, unstructured reviews miss critical details that become expensive in production.
Skema3D's AI tech pack gives you the checklist for sample review. Every specification you generated is a checkpoint to verify.
Sample review checklist from your AI tech pack
Work through your AI tech pack section by section when reviewing a sample.
- Measurements: measure every point of measure on the sample and compare against the tech pack chart — flag anything outside tolerance
- Fabric: check composition (request a burn test or content label), weight, hand feel, and color against specifications
- Construction: examine seam types, stitch count, seam allowances, and finishing against construction notes
- Hardware: verify zippers, buttons, snaps, and grommets match BOM specifications — material, size, finish
- Labels: check care label content, main label placement, and any hangtag specifications
- Color: compare under proper lighting (D65 daylight standard) against Pantone or approved lab dips
Documenting revision requests
When you find discrepancies between the sample and your AI tech pack, document them clearly.
Sample revision documentation format
| Area | Tech Pack Spec | Sample Actual | Action Required |
|---|---|---|---|
| Chest width (M) | 22 inches ±0.5" | 23.25 inches | Reduce by 1.25 inches |
| Pocket placement | 7" from HPS | 8" from HPS | Raise pocket 1 inch |
| Fabric weight | 320 gsm fleece | 280 gsm fleece | Source heavier fleece for bulk |
| Zipper color | Black tape, matte black slider | Black tape, shiny slider | Replace with matte slider |
| Hem construction | Coverstitch, 1" hem | Lockstitch, 0.75" hem | Change to coverstitch, widen to 1" |
Updating your AI tech pack after sample review
After documenting revisions, update your AI tech pack in Skema3D with the changes. The AI propagates related changes across the tech pack — if you change a measurement, grading adjusts accordingly. If you change a fabric, care instructions and construction specs may update.
Export the revised tech pack with an incremented revision number and send it to the factory along with your sample comments. This creates a clear paper trail from original spec through each revision.
Approval and production sign-off
Once your sample matches the AI tech pack specifications within tolerance, approve it for production. Mark your tech pack as 'Production Approved' with the final revision number. This becomes the definitive specification for bulk production.
The AI tech pack from /ai-tech-pack-generator serves you through the entire development cycle — from initial design through sample review to production approval.
