AI Tech Pack Wash and Care Instructions: Automated Care Label Generation

How AI tech packs generate correct wash and care instructions based on fabric composition — care symbols, text instructions, and regulatory compliance.

Care instructions are determined by fabric

Wash and care instructions are not optional — they are legally required in most markets. The correct care instructions are determined by the fabric composition and construction of the garment. 100% cotton can be machine washed hot. A wool blend may require cold wash or dry clean only. A garment with embroidery needs wash-inside-out instructions.

An AI tech pack from Skema3D automatically generates appropriate care instructions based on the fabric and construction specifications you provide. The AI applies the correct care symbol standards (ASTM for North America, ISO/GINETEX for international markets).

Care instruction components

Complete care instructions include five categories of information.

Care instruction categories

Care instructions by common fabric types

Here are standard care instructions that your AI tech pack will generate based on fabric.

  • 100% cotton: machine wash warm/cool, tumble dry medium, iron medium heat
  • Cotton/polyester blend: machine wash warm, tumble dry low, warm iron if needed
  • 100% polyester: machine wash cool, tumble dry low, do not iron or low iron
  • Wool/wool blend: hand wash cold or dry clean, reshape and lay flat to dry, do not tumble dry
  • Silk: dry clean recommended or hand wash cold, do not wring, do not tumble dry
  • Nylon/spandex (activewear): machine wash cold, do not use fabric softener, hang dry or tumble dry low

Market-specific requirements

Different markets have different care labeling standards. The US uses ASTM D5489 care symbols (different from international ISO symbols). The EU, UK, and most other markets use ISO 3758 (GINETEX) symbols. Canada requires bilingual care instructions. Japan has its own symbol system (JIS L0001, aligned with ISO since 2016).

When you specify your target market, Skema3D generates care instructions with the correct symbol system. Selling in multiple markets may require dual-symbol labels or separate labels per market.

Generating care labels in your AI tech pack

Care instructions are generated automatically as part of your AI tech pack from Skema3D. The AI determines the correct care based on your fabric composition, any special finishes or treatments, and your target market. No manual research needed.
